window part II: we begin with simple assumptions about the everyday world: a window is a vertical opening solid wall, etc...and then each student investigates that assumption. we work in photographic diptychs, sketches, grids/charts, models, tone drawing, axonometric projection, sun calculations over time, and material experimentation. we use weather, location, investigations in subtext, such as barriers, effects of daylight and moisture, color, reflection and refraction on surfaces to inform our study. ~ work from spring semester common first year studio, "fundamentals of design and the built environment
somewhere within the process, a window starts to look like this.
